About

Mona Ascott has taught Art at secondary school for over 20 years. She lives in North London and paints most of her work in her chaotically organised loft studio although she prefers painting outside, where she can observe her subjects directly. This is despite her being born with nystagmus, an eye condition which causes blurry vision. Life drawing is her passion, which she tries to practice once a week. When out and about she is never without a sketchbook and a biro, drawing anything that catches her eye, including the back of that person’s head sitting in front of her on the bus – Nulla dies sine linea – “no day without a line”!
